Does your smoke alarm comply with the law?

The Queensland law around smoke alarms changed in 2017 due to an unacceptable number of deaths from fire due to non-functional or missing smoke alarms. From 1 January 2017, any smoke alarms manufactured before 2007 must be replaced by photoelectric alarms which comply with Australian Standards (AS) 3786-2014.

That’s not all: by 1 January 2027, photoelectric interconnected smoke alarms will need to be installed in all private homes, townhouses and units in the following locations:

on each storey
in each bedroom
in hallways that connect bedrooms and the rest of the dwelling
if there is no hallway, between the bedroom and other parts of the storey; and
if there are no bedrooms on a storey, at least one smoke alarm must be installed in the most likely path of travel to exit the dwelling.

Exceptional Service from Start to Finish

We had an urgent electrical issue after Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, and Just-In Time Electrical were absolute lifesavers. Justin and his team arrived promptly, identified the problem with our overhead service, and carried out the repairs with professionalism and care. They also took the time to explain what had gone wrong, sealed roof damage to prevent further issues, and went above and beyond with testing and safety checks.

Justin was brilliant, he arrived promptly, sent a text messages to say he was on his way and a bonus he provided a link to track his progress. Next came his level of customer service which was fantastic. Let’s not forget the reason he came out, he fixed our electrical issue within the hour, kept us up to date on what needed to be done and finally the cost, keep in mind it was a Sunday night when we reached out and I have to tell you, we got value for money! I recently used Just-In Time Electrical for a significant upgrade at my home, which involved removing old fixtures, installing downlights, new switches throughout, a power outlet, a switchboard upgrade, and compliant smoke detectors. It was a five star experience from start to finish. Phil arrived on time to assess the work required, explaining clearly what he could do and wrote up a quote there and then. I was happy with the quote so two more team members were called in and work started straight away. The team was very professional, efficient, and polite. I was particularly impressed with their attention to detail and cleanliness, assuring that my dachshund puppy did not find anything on the floor to eat or run off with. I was initially going to book the work for another day as I had a planned lunch with a friend, but Phil assured me that they would keep my puppy safe. And they did! This kind of care for clients, both human and furry, is something you rarely encounter and speaks volumes about their integrity and customer service.
